Ulverston’s most recognisable landmark is the Hoad Hill monument, built as a memorial to Sir John Barrow in 1850. From the summit of Hoad Hill there are superb views over Morcambe Bay, and the mountains of the Lake District and Pennines.

Ulverston is also the start of the Cumbria way, a 74 mile walk inspired by the reintroduction of Cumbria as a county back in 1974. It crosses the heart of the Lake District and finishes in Carlise.
